The Institute has a large training area, the largest covered by any Mountaineering Institute in the world and thus enjoys great flexibility in selecting its area of training. The training areas so selected reinforce NIM training policy of getting to the snow line in the least possible time and commencing technical training without delay. The training area covered is almost ten Himalayan Valleys and twenty glaciers in some of the most spectacular ranges in the world.
