Advance Mountaineering Course
 
 
Advance Mountaineering Course aims at training the students for becoming potential leaders and members of expeditions into the Himalayas. The aim is to churn out 'Lead Climbers'. The duration of this course is also 28 days.

The Advance Mountaineering Course from NIM, HMI Darjeeling, JIM Pehalgam, ITBP training Auli, MAS Manali and SGMI Gangtok is meant for trainees graded 'A' only in the Basic Mountaineering Course. Besides brushing up their basic techniques, the following are also taught.
 
The objectives of the Advance Course are :-
 
1.

Advance techniques of climbing on rock, snow and ice.

2.

Planning and Execution of an expedition in the Himalayas.

3.

Scientific and technical aspects of mountaineering and allied subjects.

4.

Students are given an exercise on planning an expedition to a peak above 6000 Meters/20,000 feets which is actually executed by them in the mountains of Garhwal Himalayas, under supervision of NIM Instructional Staff.

5.
